Pond
of the Year Winner!
This is the backyard home of Jack Borkey and his 7,000 gallon water feature. To keep the water crystal clear we have incorporated a complete filtration system. To start, we excavated the near end to 3 feet deep with a pond aerator and at the other end it is 5 feet deep with a bottom drain. The 10,000 gallon per hour pump is housed in the skimmer tank to mechanically filter the water through a net and filter pad. Then the water is plumbed to the Ultima II Bio-tube filter and then onward through to the UV Sterilizer / Clarifier. Then the water continues to the 5 foot high waterfall where the biological waterfall filtration tank, water passes thru a set of filter pads and lava rock bags before water cascades down the rocks that create the waterfall going into the pond. To give this water feature a magical feel we built a custom foot bridge, installed under water light and fiber optic waterfall lighting and a pond fogger that sets at the top of the waterfall.
